CherryPlayer Terms & Conditions

CherryPlayer is fully owned and operated by the Swedish corporation, CherryPlayer, based in Sweden. CherryPlayer is fully governed by the laws of Sweden.

All rights and title to CherryPlayer (including but not limited to any images, photographs, animations and text incorporated into this software) and any copies of this software are owned by CherryPlayer. CherryPlayer is protected by copyright laws.

CherryPlayer grants all end users a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use three copies of CherryPlayer software on three computers at three locations at no cost at all.

CherryPlayer may not be sold or be included in a product or package. You are strictly forbidden to make any copies of this software or parts thereof except as for one (1) backup copy for archival purposes only, provided that this license file is included. CherryPlayer reserves all rights not expressly granted to you. CherryPlayer, is licensed only to you. You may not permit anyone else to use this software or install it on computers or networks other than explicitly specified in this license without the prior written consent of CherryPlayer. Any authorized transferee of this software shall be bound by the terms and conditions of this license agreement. In no event may you transfer, assign, rent, lease, sell or otherwise dispose of this software on a temporary or permanent basis except as expressly provided herein.

CherryPlayer is provided on an “AS IS” basis, without warranty of any kind, including without limitation, the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In no event shall CherryPlayer be liable for any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, consequential, incidental, special, or indirect damages such as loss of business profits, business interruption, or loss of data, or any pecuniary loss) arising out of the use of or inability to use this software. If CherryPlayer is defective, you, and not CherryPlayer, assume the entire cost of all necessary servicing, repair or correction.

This license agreement constitutes the entire understanding between you and CherryPlayer with respect to the subject matter hereof, and supersedes any and all prior agreements or understandings, verbal or written, regarding such subject matter. You may not assign or transfer your rights under this Agreement, in whole or in part. Any such attempt to assign this Agreement shall be null and void.

 

Third Party Libraries and Licenses

CherryPlayer itself is not open source software. CherryPlayer uses the below third party libraries for media playback.

QT licensing

CherryPlayer is built on the QT framework. QT is licensed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.1.

FFmpeg

The video and audio playback engine used in the Application is FFmpeg and related libraries FFmpeg is licensed under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.1. CherryPlayer use dynamically linked LGPL version of FFmpeg and does not contain any part of the components in its compiled binaries.

 

Third Party API usage

CherryPlayer use several third party APIs to enhance the experience for our users.

YouTube API

The YouTube API is used to search for, stream and download videos from the YouTube archive. These features can be found in CherryPlayer’s “Videos” section.

Last.fm API

The Last.fm API is used to display the currently most popular (most played) Music. This feature can be found in CherryPlayer’s “Music” section.

VK API

The VK API is used to search for and stream music from the VK archive. These features can be found in CherryPlayer’s “Music” section.
