CherryPlayer 1.2.9 released

It's finally here. The new CherryPlayer engine! This new version of CherryPlayer finally features hardware acceleration. In addition to this a number of bugs related to video playback has been fixed.

Enjoy:

1. Added support DXVA hardware accelleration.
2. Improved player engine.
3. Improved network playback.
4. Fixed incorrect video title names that happened sometimes.

CherryPlayer 1.2.8 released

CherryPlayer 1.2.8 is now available with some dazzling new features!

1. Added support "BBC" top tracks charts and "Billboard" hot 100 tracks charts.

2. Improved structure and made it more simple:
- placed Music and Video playlists in one place under "Library" section in left tree view.
- placed popular services in one place under "Popular" section that now includes BBC, Billboard, Last.fm, YouTube charts and Vk.com account music/video playlists.
- removed Music/Video tabs so only one playlist is visible now; one playbar, titlebar, shuffle and repeat settings are used now; only one track or video can be played now.
- improved search view, placed search in one place with options to easy change between searching "VK Music", "VK Videos" and "YouTube videos".

3. Improved work with VK.com
- fixed crash if play track from search results after changed IP.
- fixed some errors in playback VK videos
- implemented better playback logic for VK music and VK videos
- fixed style sheet view bugs in VK.com login form
- added login VK button to VK.com playlists section to call login VK dialog.

4. Added "Menu" on top panel.

5. Fixed functionality to avoid computer and display sleeping during video playback on XP.

6. Added functionality to disable screensaver during video playback.

7. "Stop" in fullscreen will stop video and exit fullscreen now.

This week we focused on testing and releasing 1.2.8 version with updates and fixes in user interface.

Next week we are planning to release CherryPlayer 1.2.9 that should have new player engine with last FFmpeg fixes and should support DXVA hardware accelleration. We have very good progress in adding DXVA hardware accelleration support to CherryPlayer and it is almost completed. We are just testing it very carefully before release.

We would like to say you that we continue to improve CherryPlayer.
We are working now on a few things that you will be able to see very very sooner!

1. We are changing CherryPlayer playlists treeview structure to more simple view to have all things in one place without separating Music and Videos on tabs. This takes some time to get all things worked good and stable.

2. We are working on adding DXVA hardware accelleration to player engine. This time player engine should be updated too with last stable FFmpeg LGPL version that should have some bugs and crashes fixed in audio and video playback.

3. We added to CherryPlayer support of cherryplayer magnet link. This will open for you opportunity to share links of vk and youtube media to your friends in social media sites etc.

We hope to see CherryPlayer 1.2.8 released with above features in 1-2 weeks.

Also our future plans includes:

1. Get player engine to work more stable and without crashes in some cases.

2. Add language support.

3. Add support subtitles and switching audio tracks for video.

4. Integrate CherryPlayer with Facebook.

5. Improve current design and add more skins support. This feature will be considered when we finish with changes of current structure.

CherryPlayer 1.2.7 has just been released with a single new feature: the ability to view VK videos! This means we just brought in a very, very large archive of high quality videos into CherryPlayer. Make sure that you search our video archive now, it's a completely new experience.

We do recommend everyone to create and use their own accounts with VK.com to experience this addition in the best possible way. Due to restrictions from VK movies may otherwise not play on all attempts. CherryPlayer will automatically ask you for this when it is necessary.

We are happy to announce that we released new CherryPlayer 1.2.6 version! It has a few bugs fixed and supports a few new important features like better music and video search with google auto-complete help, Win7 taskbar toolbar, context menu with listed some features player supports, "Open Directory" etc. We consider this release as a major update from last we had. CherryPlayer 1.2.6 has been released with the following updates:

1. Improved VK Music search with auto-complete feature

CherryPlayer 1.2.5 release

We have released an urgent fix for YouTube playback in version 1.2.5. To be able to view or download YouTube movies you will need to upgrade.

CherryPlayer 1.2.5 has been released with the following updates:

1. Replaced OpenFile dialog to standard OpenFile dialogs on XP and Win7.
2. Fixed YouTube playback and download issues.
3. Improved installer. Now upgrade from previous to new version works faster and better then before.

New graphical profile!

We're now changing the design of CherryPlayer into a completely new theme that works well with our new logo. The first step is updating our social media website starting with Facebook. Next we will update our Twitter, YouTube, vK and Google+ pages.

When this is completed we're going to give our website a similar design and later also bring this into CherryPlayer itself.

We would like to notify you about things we started to work this week after release CherryPlayer 1.2.4. Last weeks we were focused a lot on updates to CherryPlayer functionality and did not work on design improvements.

This week we focused on design improvements and opened 3 design contests to improve CherryPlayer page looking on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Designs should be ready in a week and we have a few interesting options for now. Then some time will take to integrate designs to these social media sites.

Also this week we started to discuss with designers some little design updates to CherryPlayer.

We have also some errors and not user friendly behavior in working of CherryPlayer toolbar. It is due to absent some experience during development of this project that was new for us in this area and it had a lof ot difficulties to arrange it nice. But now we have strong looking what need to change and started to rebuild CherryPlayer toolbar completely on HTML5. This should take not much time now. Additionally HTML5 player will open ways to use CherryPlayer at mobile devices and probably consider in future access your "Cherry Playlists" from mobile, desktop and browser.

Also we still have some delays with release new Audio/Video engine. It begins the most important part we plan to focus after making design updates. New Audio/Video engine has some updates and improved playback at most PCs, it has also some crashes fixed but we have issue with slowly playback on 2 PCs were not installed native video card drivers and we are trying to fix this. No value to release this new engine if such bugs exists.

We are happy to announce that we released new CherryPlayer 1.2.4 version! It has a lot of fixes and updates and supports a few new features. We consider this release as a major update from last we had. More details you can find below.

CherryPlayer 1.2.4 has been released with the following updates:

1. Signed CherryPlayer installer with "CherryPlayer" trusted certificate!

2. Added next internal Drag&Drop features.
2.1. Added a feature to change position of tracks/videos in playlist using Drag&Drop.
2.2. Drag&Drop track/video from right playlist into playlist name in left treeview will add track/video to this playlist.
2.3. Drag&Drop track/video from right playlist into search field in Music/Video will begin searching for similar tracks/videos.
2.4. Drag&Drop track/video from right playlist into "Enter New Playlist Name" field in Music/Video will add track's/video's name as a text.
2.5. Drag&Drop track/video from right playlist into Music/Video tabs changes current view from Music to Video and otherwise. So like way possible now to find easy your music on YouTube and your video in Music if drop track/video on search field.

3. Improved external Drag&Drop.
3.1. Drag&Drop tracks/videos from Windows into left tree view playlist name will add tracks/videos to this playlist. Also content of playlist is reloaded in right playlist if drag external files over this playlist name in left tree view.
3.2. Drag&Drop tracks/videos from Windows into right playlist will add tracks/videos to playlist in position where files were dropped.
3.3. Drag&Drop track/video from Windows into search field in Music/Video will begin searching for similar tracks/videos.
3.4. Drag&Drop track/video from Windows into "Enter New Playlist Name" field in Music/Video will add track's/video's name as a text.
3.5. Drag&Drop track/video from Windows into Music/Video tabs changes current view from Music to Video and otherwise. So like way possible now to switch easy between Music and Video to drop files on need playlist or search for Music and Video.
3.6. Added support Drag&Drop track(s)/video(s) from Windows to play panel that adds media files to "My Tracks" and/or "My Videos" playlist(s) and begins to play immediately first media file from list.
3.7. Added ability to play http audio/video stream if Drag&Drop audio/video urls from browser to play panel or it will be added to playlist if urls were dropped to playlist.
3.8. Added support Drag&Drop any text from browser or any Windows application to Audio/Video search field.
3.9. Added support Drag&Drop any text from browser or any Windows application to "Enter New Playlist Name" field.

4. Right playlist is scrolled up/down if you want to change position of track/video in playlist or drop external files to some specific position in playlist. For this need to move mouse on the first (to scroll Up) or last (to scroll Down) visible track/video in playlist.

5. Mouse wheel scrolling works if Drag&Drop external files (but does not work for now if Drag&Drop internal files).

6. Improved "+" menu work in Music playlists. Menu is hidden now if happened any actions outside menu.

7. Improved selection of active track in Music playlists.

8. Improved algorithm of selection of played track/video during adding/removing/drag&drop items in played playlist. Fixed a few bugs connected to this.

9. Playpanel for video in fullscreen and normal mode is shown now over video so video is not limited in height now.

10. In normal mode video playpanel is shown when new video is started to be played or move mouse over video and later it is hidden if no user activity.

11. Improved functionality to not hide video playpanel until mouse over it.

12. Improved functionality to minimize video if "Update" or "OpenFile" dialogs are shown and restore minimized video after closing dialogs.

13. Removed effects and delays during minimizing/maximizing video in playlist (not minimize/maximize player!)

14. Disabled support of keyboard media hotkeys "Media Volume Down" and "Media Volume Up" as they can control volume of system too.

15. Disabled removing playlist by pressed "Delete" from keyboard.

16. Removed from "Youtube Tops" playlist "Top Favorites" that repeats "Top Rated" playlist.

17. Removed from "Youtube Tops" playlist "Most Shared" that repeats "Trending Videos" playlist.

Fixed:
1. "Alt+Enter" did not move playback in fullscreen if right playlist had focus.
2. Double click on local media file in Windows added file to playlist but did not start to play it.
3. Adding tracks/videos via OpenFile added then to playlists but did not start to play it.
4. Last.fm tops were not updated up-to-date.
5. Sometimes scroll jumped after adding/removing items in playlist and mouse over scroll.
6. Adding track or video to empty playlist created 2 items where one is undefined item.
7. Maximizing CherryPlayer window covered full screen and so covered Windows taskbar.

Design updates:
1. Updated CherryPlayer logo to new.
2. Improved selection frame of tracks and videos.
3. Removed "gray" highlighted background if double click on track/video to play.
4. Moved a bit up video image and video thumb label.

I am very happy to be able to announce the CherryPlayer toolbar!

This toolbar is compatible with all major browsers and will allow you to listen to VK music while browsing the web. This is all thanks to our partnership with Conduit and our development of a new Flash based media player.

Try it out today. It's completely free to use.

As a next step we are currently also exploring HTML 5 and the possibility of making a web based version of CherryPlayer. This will make it possible to listen to your favorite music on any smart phone or computer worldwide.

We would like to notify you about our progress. Last week we improved focus work in player and added support some hot keys and multimedia keys. The list of hot keys will be extended later and we plan to add options where you will be able to setup your hotkeys. But adding options will be a bit later task as we have more important things to do now.

For now we are working on adding internal drag&drop between playlists and improving external drag&drop. It seems a very important thing that we should add early. Player should work much more friendly if we add all drag&drop features we planned! :p

If all things will work good then you will be able to see this week new CherryPlayer release with improved drag&drop work!

Also we should release this or early next week first version of toolbars for Chrome, FireFox and Internet Explorer to play VK music from browser. We are completing final things to release it.

Fixed:
1. Fixed bad expanding of last section in left playlists tree view.
2. Fixed incorrect playlist selection when add tracks/videos from OpenFile/Drag&Drop
3. Improved focus work between playlists etc.

After 2 months without much updates from us we had 3 releases of CherryPlayer last 2 weeks. Such delay was due completely changed player structure with adding support more playlists and their another view, switching between them, give user ability to manage own playlists etc. Aditionally we released downloading YouTube movies inside player.

Now we consider a few updates next weeks:

1. Imrove navigation, add support of hot-keys and multimedia keyboard keys
This week we started to fix navigation in player and have good progress. Next week should be released new CherryPlayer version with improved navigation from keyboard. Also will be added support of hot-keys and multimedia keyboard keys.

2. Fix "re-painting" and "strips" issues in video playback
We have a new version of engine that should fix happened sometimes "re-painting" issues in YouTube playback during buffering and strips if go to fullscreen. This engine is on the final stage of testing as added some other bugs in playback but we have continious progress in this and hope to release it very sooner.

3. Add for video playback support subtitles and audio tracks switching
With new engine we got also support of switching Audio tracks during video playback but this feature is not tested well for now. And next days we should have completed support subtitles for video. These both important features will be tested next weeks and this time will be integrated into CherryPlayer design too.

4. Release next weeks browser toolbar to play music from VK
Next 1-2 weeks we should release toolbar for Chrome, InternetExplorer and Firefox that will give you ability to search and listen for VK music in your browser.

5. Improve CherryPlayer design
And of course design updates should come sooner. We did not make any design updates to player last half-year (except of worked on new logo) as it had a lot of updates in structure etc. Now we think we can start to see for design updates. We plan to add nicer looking to left tree view panel with adding playlists icons etc. Some updates are required to playlist part and some other controls. If you have any design complaints or ideas then please post them here!

Also if you have any complaints to audio or video playback - please report them to us in this thread or on forum. We can fix all issues but only if have detailed info about them. Please give us a chance to make CherryPlayer your top player! :cool:
